At Shaolin Kung Fu of Central Texas, our primary style is Northern 7-Star Praying Mantis (北方七星螳螂), a system noted for its extremely fast hand and leg techniques. Praying Mantis kung fu traces its origins to the Shaolin Temple and Wang Long, who studied the techniques of the praying mantis in order to improve his martial arts skills and best his fellow monks. After leaving the temple, the system was further refined by great masters such as Luo Guanyu (pictured on the left). 7-Star Mantis is one of the most devastating martial arts systems, and the combat techniques are extremely effective in addition to being artistic and graceful.
Sifu Marsh is a disciple of 7-Star Praying Mantis Grandmaster Raymond Fogg, founder of the United States Kung Fu Exchange. While we at Shaolin Kung Fu of Central Texas follow our own curriculum, it is very similar to that of other schools within the United States Kung Fu Exchange, particularly that of the Kung Fu Exchange of Dallas, the home school of Grandmaster Fogg. Through our relationship with the United States Kung Fu Exchange, we are able to participate in events and to train with our kung fu brothers and sisters at the Kung Fu Exchange of Dallas, and to participate in competition and events sponsored by the United States Kung Fu Exchange.
